Oh Boreham!

It's exciting to find people that enjoy boot sales as much as I do.  This morning I set my alarm for 5am to go and meet a collegue and her fiance for a run around at Boreham Bootsale.
Recognised as the "Biggest and best in Essex.  Known as the "big one" by local regulars it has hundreds of stalls, refreshments, toilets and amusements and kids for the kids.  Established over 15 years ago it has a huge footfall due to its proximity of the A12 and the City of Chelmsford."

How have I missed this?

We traded some boot sale secrets and helped each other hunt out some treasure.  Strangest item found?  A hand made embroidered Mel Gibson cushion that was purchased as a joke home warming present.

I was on the usual look out for items of interest...

Look what I found!

At first glance I thought i'd hit the Jamaica Bay, Taylor Smith Taylor jackpot!  After a little parental consultation I found that it was actually Aztec, Studio by J & G Meakin.

The asking price was £25 which isn't bad and I was certain I could have fluttered some eyelashes and brought it down to something more comfortable. My instant reaction was that I needed to pick this up for Nick,  I began calculating how I would get such a collection over to the states this summer with a one bag allowance.  (Who needs clothes right?!)  There was no way I could have managed that in one trip so I started doubting myself and shot Nick a message calling for some expert advice.

Oh boy, he didn't see the message in time and was I in trouble! #gutted

Alas, I didn't return empty handed.  I picked up a great condition vintage 1950's tan leather Kelly handbag.  It's not an epic J & G Meakin collection but it's cute and found a spot on Ebay for the week!

The morning was complete with a delicious home cooked breakfast and a fantastic looking hot chocolate cake.  So spoilt! A lovely day with lovely people!
